Conan the Barbarian will team-up with some of the Marvel Universe's deadliest characters in a new series titled Savage Avengers, by writer Gerry Duggan and artist Mike Deodato.

This is an unsanctioned team of heroes. It has to be something that visually makes sense to you, and I think it does. [Artist] Mike Deodato Jr. is illustrating this book in both worlds. We envisioned a threat, a magical green zone where the evil wizards of Conan’s world are trading spells with the Hand in Japan. Conan is on a very Conan-like mission; he’s heard a tale of an amulet so he’s chasing it, and the evil magic sorcerers are doing something that would be a Marvel Avengers problem. It feels like we have found some very fertile ground that is a Venn diagram between those two worlds.

Full Color, 40 pages, $4.99, On sale May TBA.

Conan le Cimmérien: La Citadelle écarlate
Coming in March!

The decay of a king. The fall of a kingdom.

Everything starts on a battlefield. Conan, then king of Aquilonia, faces a coalition of traitors led by the wizard Tsotha-Lanthi who, to overcome the rage of the Cimmerian, uses his spells before neutralizing it in the most cowardly way. Captured alive, Conan is taken to the terrible jails of the Scarlet Citadel to suffer a worse fate than death and obtain his abdication, while the wizard's armies march to his capital. Will the horror of the prison and the dreadful magic of the wizard overcome the inflexible resolution of Conan? Will he manage to escape to reach his people in time?

Luc Brunschwig and Étienne Le Roux take up the challenge of adapting one of Conan's darkest news, in which the Cimmerian probably makes the biggest fall in his history: from glorious king, he becomes a pathetic prisoner. A black story, panting, full of diplomatic issues and tensions, where the myth becomes human again.

Scriptwriter: Luc Brunschwig
Designer: Etienne Le Roux

Savage Avengers
New Conan team-up book!
